The Summer Festival’s popular Try It Again Mud Bog continues as a two day event this year. The event will be staged on Saturday and Sunday, June 28-29th, in Washington Park.
The Tune and Test preliminaries will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, with the Try It Again Mud Bog finals at noon on Sunday.
Registration on Sunday begins at 8:00 a.m. and closes PROMPTLY at 11:00 a.m. The drivers meeting will be held PROMPTLY at 11:00am. You MUST attend the drivers meeting in order to participate in the Mud Bog on Sunday. Information can be obtained from APEX Muffler, 2308 Franklin St, Michigan City (219) 872-0601, sponsor for the event.
Registration is $20 for each day.
The Mud Bog features four-wheel drive vehicles attempting to traverse a man-made mud bog. Two pits will be available to enable more vehicles to conduct their runs more quickly.
On Saturday, following the Tune & Test, live music will be featured on the Jaycee Stage from 7pm-11pm.
The Sunday contest starts at 12:00 noon and is expected to run until around 5 p.m.
ATTENTION ALL KIDS: Kids can participate in the Dash 4 Cash event (wear old clothes because you’re going to get muddy!), and the Power Wheel Event (miniature electric powered cars). Children must be within weight and age restrictions to ride in the miniature cars.
Enjoy the beer gardens, food vendors and a spectacular day of mudslinging!
Spectator admission is free. Parking fees apply.
“In its first year, the Try It Again Mud Bog drew 45 trucks and 300 spectators. Last year it had grown to 66 trucks and some 3,000 spectators,” said Darren Westphal, event chairman.
