The Summer Festival presents the Twirling Competition Sunday, June 29.
Baton twirlers, pompon groups, color guards
and dance teams will join in the Kiddie Parade on June
21st in Washington Park. Awards will be presented
and food and refreshments served for both the twirlers
and all the other entrants in the parade in Washington
Park.
The baton, pom, color guard and dance performers then will compete Sunday at the All U.S. American Competition at Elston Middle School. Doors open at 8 a.m. and competition begins at 9. Youngsters compete in numerous categories and age groups.
Competing units come from around Indiana, Illinois and other states, including a repeat performance by the Sparklers from Long Island, New York (which has 25 to 30 members) will be featured.
In all, some 560 children are expected to participate in Saturdays Kiddie Parade, including the twirlers and others in Michigan City for the Sunday competition.
